Distinguished artist,Yeda Maria Correa de Oliveira, was born in Bahia, Brazil. She studied Fine Art at the Federal University of Bahia, where she graduated in 1959 and then earned a Master's degree in painting and printmaking from Illinois State University twenty years later. She taught painting, drawing and etching at the Federal University in the 1970s and worked for the Bahia Museum of Modern Art as Professor of Etching in the 1980s.

Correa de Oliveira has had 22 solo exhibitions in Brazil and the United States and participated in numerous group shows. She has also received many honours and awards. Her work is represented in public collections in Brazil and the United States.
