| Hilário Joaquim Nhatugueja was born in Maputo in 1964 and attended the School of Visual Arts in Maputo in 1985. He is a professor in art at the National School of Visual Arts, an active member of Núcleo de Arte and a founder member of "Art Feliz" Cooperative. |

| He was the first winner of "New Talents" and took part in International workshops "Pachipamwe" in Bulawayo in 1993 and "UJAMAA IV" in Maputo during 1995. He was also a participant of a workshop at the Art Foundation in Johannesburg and in 1998 a workshop for the transformation of scrap metal guns into Art. |
